Happy Haunted Humpday....Beware the BatGirl!

Hello and Welcome to Happy Haunted Humpday hosted by Marfi of Incipient Wings! This week I present to you a rare sighting of a creature almost unknown in the modern world...a creature so terrifyingly cute that you can't help but be thrilled when you spot her....the daylight pic above is the only one known to be in existence...The Purple BaT Girl! You can spot her by her purple wings and body, her sweet face, and her sharp little teeth. She likes to snack on snails, rosebuds and Gummy Bears....and sometimes as night falls...you may hear the flutter of her wings as she searches the night....for a new friend....awwwwww!
So cute...and I only bite a little bit!

Haunted Humpday!

Welcome to Week 2 of Haunted Humpday hosted by Incipient Wings! This week I have been working on 'Jeannie in a Bottle', another altered bottle with an altered vintage doll head stopper. I altered a Halloween bottle from Michaels again but in a slightly different way. I adore the bright green glass and didn't want to change that, so instead I made a face mold and added it the front of the bottle, then painted the face with acrylic paints and black mica flake. The vintage doll head is altered to look like a cute but creepy little demon, using acrylic paints, resin clay and black mica flake. I'll be adding ribbons and embellishments to the bottle once all the paint and glaze is dry.
So what makes this post a haunted post, besides the old dirt, dust and cobwebs in my unclean kitchen? Well, ask yourself this instead...who is Jeannie? Why is the bottle named 'Jeannie in the Bottle'? Figure it out yet?
So the story goes that a cute but creepy little demon lured poor Jeannie to look inside the pretty green bottle...when she did he trapped her soul inside...and what you see now is her face as she tries to escape...from...the...inside...of...the...botttlllleee......muuuuuwwaaahhaaaa.....
Please be sure to stop by the other Haunted Humpday posts by going to the Incipient Wings blog and scrolling down to comments. And look for a post from me in the next week announcing a Haunted Doll Challenge for October...details coming soon!

And a quick note..I promise I will be posting other things besides haunted dolls....but right now I am possessed.....oh, no...I mean OBSESSED...with dolls!

Happy Wednesday and hope you have a super Haunted Humpday! xo

Paint Party Friday!

Happy Weekend and Happy Paint Party Friday! I am still working my way thru Michael DeMeng's Distressed DollHead workshop and this week I altered a doll head with resin clay, acrylic paints and a glaze...altered a Halloween bottle from Michaels with stamps, acrylic paint, crackle glaze and mica flake...then attached the doll head to the cork, added some fibers...and all done!
I also wanted to announce that the TabithaLenox Etsy Shop is now open and I have made my first 2 sales, so very exciting! I am now setup to take US and International orders, have added Paypal as a payment method and worked out some other details. I'll be adding more items to the shop very soon. If you have any questions, please email me (there is a link on the blog right sidebar) or go to the Etsy shop and select Contact Seller. I'll be happy to answer any questions.

Have a great weekend and be sure to visit PPF to find the links for visiting all the wonderful artists this week! xo

Altered Dolly Heads...Paint Party Friday!

I have been taking a short break from making the Altered Pez to do Michael DeMeng's Distressed Altered Doll Head workshop! I'm learning lots of new altering and paint techniques...Be warned, the doll heads are a little creepy ala Michael DeMeng style....
I keep meaning to take before and after pics but forgot!
So cool that all of this is done with acrylic paint!
So much fun...now I have to decide what to do with all these altered dolly heads!

In the next week or so I'll be going back to doing some of the big eyed girl paintings...and more Altered Pez, once I can find more watch parts and other things for embedding in the clay.

Thanks so much for visiting my PaintPartyFriday post and hope you have a great weekend! xo
