My current obsession is painting....and my subject is Big Eyed Dolls! I am totally obsessed and I am having a blast learning to draw and paint in this style. As many of you know from previous posts, I love to draw and paint but get very frustrated trying to do something that uses realistic proportions. I stepped back and started looking at some of my previous attempts and realized that I continually tried to draw a very large eye with huge pupil in a realistic face....and that's why it just never felt right. Light bulb moment!
I looked at online workshops to help me learn more about this style and I found Ady Almanza's DollDreams on NING. She has wonderful classes including a Doll Dreams Basic class that teaches you how to draw and paint a doll step by step. She also has little mini workshops and that's where I did these two little paintings. Can you tell I'm excited? I know these big eyed girls are not everyone's cup of tea but I am in LOVE!
Thanks so much to PaintPartyFriday for hosting this event each week. I have been a follower for some time now and this is my first time participating! Happy Friday everyone!

Loving your big eyed girls. Happy PPF, Annette x
These are gorgeous. I especially like the first one. She's very sexy and girly. Hope to see more of your obsession.

So glad you linked up to PPF-your big eyed girls are beautiful!! Hope to see you again next week :)
It looks like you're having fun with your big-eyed dolls. That first one is especially striking.
These dolls are MY cup of tea...I love them...their personality and funkiness. Who needs realism when the mind has so many whimsical, fun and creative faces waiting to be painted? You go, gf! :)
Super happy you have found your niche with the big eyed girls...so cute! They remind me of those prints back in the 70's....remember...the "mod" girls and even the big eyed dogs and cats! I just loved those. Your last painting really reminds me of them. Love 'em! ♥AK
I love the big eyed girls! I had the same problem when I fist started drawing portraits, not sure why I always want the big beautiful eyes but they really work for you.
Such beautiful faces, i love their big doe eyes :)
I love your big eyed girls. It is so exciting when we find the thing to do that we love. I can hear the excitement in your post.
Kim, I wish all people had great, creative, amazing obsessions like this one ;-)
They are just beautiful Kim....loved the first one more ...it has an attitude! I can relate very well to big eyed images...I love my subjects with big lovely eyes, that's my focus area too:)
Your girls are terrific! I also got caught up in repainting Monster High Dolls, which end up being 3-D versions of your girls :) If you haven't seen them, just google 'OOAK Monster High doll".
You did a wonderful job, both are very sweet and mysterious ;o)
I'm also a writer and would love to do a story about the dark haired beauty. Love your work. Blessings, Janet PPF
